Wrinkles may signify wisdom, yet you may not want everyone to know just how "wise" you really are, therefore you may consider a face lift to combat the signs of aging. Many procedures are available today that will help reduce the signs of aging and make fine lines and wrinkles disappear. Or at the very least become less noticeable.

These techniques can be either medically treated with the use of prescription creams, topically treated with over-the-counter creams and ointments or surgically treated with several forms of laser treatments. Which method of a face lift is purely a personal choice.

One type of face lift is via prescription and extols the best track record of success. A cream or variations thereof, contain Vitamin A Acid - tretinoin, Tetin-A and Renova. Two drawbacks of this method is it must be applied religiously and you may experience redness and peeling when you first begin treatment.

Alpha-hydroxy acids and Antioxidants are less irritating to your skin and while fine lines and wrinkles are minimized, the effects are not as apparent as with other treatments. Another type of face lift is temporary and can be achieved by using ordinary moisturizers. This type of treatment only reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for limited amounts of time.

Surgical treatments have a permanence attached to them, however, the recuperation time can sometimes be weeks to months. In addition, some resurfacing may cause permanent changes to your pigment.

Laser resurfacing is when a laser is passed over the skin several times before it reaches the second layer of skin. To maximize the effects of this treatment it may have to be performed several times.

Fractional resurfacing treats only the areas where the wrinkles or fine lines appear as opposed to the entire face. Healing time is much faster and virtually painless. In addition, this method does not damage the epidermis. Like traditional laser treatments, several procedures may be necessary to achieve full benefits.

With so many types of face lifts available, you may want to speak with a qualified practitioner before making your decision.

I myself believe that at times this is necessary but not for all. I do not think it should be done for vanity although the majority of times I believ it is. Many times the fear of growing old, business reasons, pride, even fear or loneliness, whatever are the main reasons. However, if it helps your sanity and self esteem and you are comfortable then ok.
